Kitchen Kid’s after school enrichment program, Classroom Cooks carefully integrates core academic subjects, (such as math, science, geography, and culture), and important social values, (such as cooperation, sustainability, and self-reliance), with culinary concepts (like palate development and knife skills) and nutrition education (think fresh vs. processed foods and where food comes from). Classroom Cooks is the ideal way for schools and other organizations to cook up enthusiasm for the kitchen classroom. Our inter-disciplinary and hands-on cooking classes are fun, delicious, and healthy!
In addition to Classroom Cooks, we also offer Featured Workshops, Cooking Class Series, and School Vacation Camps throughout the year hosted at our summer camp locations. Examples of these include our popular “Shop, Drop, and Cook Holiday Workshop”, the Farmers’ Market Cooking Class Series, and our brand new series, “My Own Restaurant”. Details for these classes are posted here.

How it works:
Kitchen Kid has partnered with over 20 local schools and organizations, including private schools, public school districts, community centers, and religious programs throughout Los Angeles. No kitchen or special equipment is needed to teach enrichment classes during or after the school day. We provide all ingredients, supplies, tools, and materials, allowing kids to mix math, simmer science, and taste geography in a “kitchen classroom” almost anywhere. Our flexible pricing is comparable to other enrichment classes offered at your school. Typically our programs run 6 – 10 weeks, but we also work with schools to offer special year-long courses as well as one-day workshops.

What We Teach:
Founded on the belief that the kitchen classroom is the tastiest place to learn, our holistic curriculum incorporates math, science, geography, culture, language, nutrition, reading comprehension, ecology, and history. Culinary education naturally cultivates teamwork and self-reliance, social responsibility, sustainability, and community. Classroom Cooks courses are taught by trained Culinary Coaches who electrify the kitchen classroom with their love for cooking and teaching. Our most popular classes and workshops include Books for Cooks, Global Eats, and the Secret Garden.
